Red Group: Novice Competitors

Ages: 6+

Group Dynamic: Focus is on improving the four competitive strokes, developing team participation skills and team pride, increasing body awareness and coordination, and introduction to swim practice training sets, relays, and skills needed to compete in a swim meet.

Practices will introduce the use of the pace clock, intervals, and swimming for time. Swimmers will learn independence skills such as preparing for practice (stationing needed equipment/putting on their own swim caps, getting out into their towels, picking up equipment, etc.), checking for swim times and intervals on the pace clock. Participants in this group are encouraged to compete in the 25 and 50 meter events of every stroke, 100 free, and 100 IM.

Entrance into group: Swimmers in this group may be as young as 6. Swimmers must be able to be independent of parent(s) or other caretaker throughout practice time. Ability to swim all four strokes legally as noted in the Move-Up requirements for the Yellow/Pre-Competition group.
